Job Purpose:

The Trainer – Tunnel Farming will be responsible for building the capacity of women farmers and community members in tunnel farming techniques by providing practical and theoretical training (One Day, One Session), enabling improved agricultural productivity, off-season vegetable cultivation, and enhanced income generation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct training sessions on tunnel farming techniques, including low tunnels, high tunnels, and seasonal crop management.
• Educate women farmers on smart agriculture practices such as efficient water use, soil health management, and integrated pest management.
• Provide hands-on demonstrations on tunnel construction, seed selection, nursery raising, transplantation, and crop maintenance.
• Develop and deliver training materials in a simple and locally understandable manner.
• Mobilize and engage women farmers, ensuring active participation and inclusion.
• Coordinate with project teams and local stakeholders for effective implementation.
• Promote climate-smart agriculture practices to enhance resilience against environmental changes.
• Ensure gender-responsive training methodologies that address women’s roles, needs, and constraints in agriculture.
• Promote women’s decision-making, leadership, and access to resources through inclusive training approaches.
• Facilitate discussions on equitable workload distribution, nutrition, household food security, and income generation from surplus produce.
• Maintain training attendance records, prepare and submit training report to project manager.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Diploma or degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in agricultural training, preferably in tunnel farming
• Experience working with rural communities, especially women farmers
• Strong knowledge of climate-smart agriculture practices
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills
• Ability to work in remote and challenging environments.
• Familiar with Diamer’s Culture, Languages and Topography.
