Child Safeguarding Level 3 - the responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people

ROLE PURPOSE:

As a member of the Finance Team, this position will assist the Manager Finance & Awards for overall Financial Management of SC in Pakistan.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Manager Finance & Awards. 

Staff directly reporting to this post: Nil.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

As a member of the Finance Team, contribute to:

  • Follow an organisational culture that reflects our values, promotes accountability and high performance and frees up our people to deliver outstanding results for children and excellent customer service for our Members and donors

Regular:

  • Compliance check of all payments to ensure that documentary evidence is fully complete and abiding the SCI policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring payment processing is aligned with statutory regulations and global policies and complying with risk management and internal controls.
  • Proactively reviewing the processes, practices and documents to identify weakness.
  • Compliance check of MPCA payments and communications with bank.
  • MPCA reconciliations and preparation of reports for Senior Management.
  • Preparation of Financial statements according to International Financial Reporting Standards issued by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and Accounting Standards for Not-for-Profit Organizations (NPOs) issued by the ICAP.
  • Make bank payment vouchers to ensure completeness and accuracy of documentation
  • Focal person for conducting Annual Audit and project-based audits.
  • Assist Manager Finance & Awards in Year-end processes and month end processes including preparation and reconciliation of schedules.
  • Assist manager Finance & awards in Monthly BVA’s

Risk Management:

  • Provide assistance in risk management functions and related communications across the CO.
  • Keep track of and coordinate the CO’s risk management deliverables such as quarterly risk management plans, yearly Letters of Assurance, Aid Diversion assessments and track progress of the mitigation’s measures.
  • Facilitate the RMP process, regular updates to SMT and risk management committees’ meetings.
  • Assist in the continuous improvement of SCI risk management framework, including systems, processes, and centralized reporting, staying abreast of best practices, and contributing to the effective development of risk management system architecture.

Audits:

  • Coordinate Audits as per HQ and donor’s requirements.
  • Coordinate input into GA’s TORs for audit engagement.
  • Coordinate the CO’s management responses prior to their submission to GA.
  • Review findings of external audit reports.
  • Ensure follow-up recommendations by maintaining a register of findings, action plans developed in response to such findings and action taken in accordance with such action plans.
  • Prepare summary reports for SMT review with emphasis on major findings

Finance and Program Staff Capacity Building:

  • Assist Manager Finance & Awards for capacity building of Program staff and budget holder to understand the financial reports.
  • Assist  the Line Manager for capacity building of new hired staff around cash matters of SC.

Work for Emergency Situation:

  • Ability to work for long hours under emergency situation.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • MBA in Finance or CA /ACMA/ ACCA part qualified.
  • At least 5 years’ experience
  • Some initial experience like internship in any reputed organization.
  • A “Can do” and service oriented attitude
  • Ability to work independently to a high professional standard
  • Sensitive to the cultural & political environment
  • Fluent spoken & written English language
