Capacity Building of Afghan Refugees and Host Communities on Information Technology and Robotics

Purpose of the assignment:

This assignment intends to engage members of the Afghan refugees and host communities from selected districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on topics such as information technology, robotics, development of a robotics car, and programming. The aim of the assignment is to orient the participating members on key topics of information technology and how they can use information technology for their day-to-day life, and to engage them in a practical workshop of robotic car (play based car) development to orient and capacitate them on problem solving, communication, and networking concept with a practical approach.

Key tasks of assignments:

The consultant (or firm) will be responsible to train XXX youth (teenage boys and girls, male and female youth) from Afghan refugees and host communities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on information technology, robot car development on Adrino nano platform/chip, problem solving, and communication.

The consultant (or firm) will perform the following tasks as part of the assignment:

  • Develop a list of materials required for the workshop including robotics car development.
  • Develop and program different parts of the robotics car materials before the start of the workshop.
  • Introduce the participating members of the training on information technology concept.
  • Orient and engage the participating members of the workshop on Robots developed on the micro-bit and Arduino platforms.
  • Capacitate the participating members of the workshop on problem solving and computational techniques with a focus on robots' development so they learn problem solving techniques as well.
  • Conduct practical workshops with the participating members of the workshops on developing robots so that at the end of the workshop, the participating members have the capacity to develop a robot on their own.
  • Engage participants in group activities with an aim to develop teamwork skills among participants for professional grooming.
  • Utilize AV tools to make workshops interactive and engaged to maintain participants interest in the content.
  • Maintain the record of the workshops including attendance sheets, pictures, content of workshop, and workshop report for each three day workshop.

Key competencies:

The Consultant (or firm) shall have at least:

  • a bachelor's degree in social sciences or arts.
  • an associate degree (three years) in programming or electronics.
  • five years’ relevant experience in robot development, programming, or electronics.
  • five years’ experience as a trainer/teacher.
  • have conducted at least 10 training/workshops on information technology where robotics (car development) was used as a main tool for workshops on Adrino nano chip/platform.
  • has previously worked for at least three years with Afghan refugees and host communities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
  • has technical expertise in the development of servo motors, ultrasonic sensors, gear motors, joysticks, motor drivers, PCB solding, etc.
