Job Title: Social Organizer (Health Project – FP & PAC)

Project: Community Health Improvement Project (Family Planning & Post-Abortion Care)
Duty Station: Field-based (Project Area)
Reporting To:Health Program Officer


Job Purpose

The Social Organizer will mobilize and engage communities to promote awareness, acceptance, and utilization of Family Planning (FP) and Post-Abortion Care (PAC) services. The role focuses on community sensitization, behavior change communication, and strengthening linkages between communities and health service providers.


Key Responsibilities

Community Mobilization & Engagement

  • Mobilize communities, including men, women, youth, and influencers, to support family planning and post-abortion care initiatives.

  • Conduct community meetings, group discussions, and household visits to raise awareness on reproductive health, birth spacing, and maternal well-being.

  • Identify and engage community leaders, religious leaders, elders, and women groups to build trust and acceptance of FP & PAC messages.

Awareness & Advocacy Activities

  • Facilitate awareness sessions on:

    • Importance of family planning and birth spacing

    • Availability and safety of post-abortion care services

    • Maternal health, reproductive rights, and safe health practices

  • Address myths, misconceptions, and cultural barriers related to family planning and post-abortion care through dialogue and counseling.

  • Support behavior change communication (BCC) campaigns at the community level.

Coordination & Referral Support

  • Establish and maintain strong linkages between communities and nearby health facilities for FP and PAC services.

  • Support referral mechanisms by guiding beneficiaries to appropriate health service providers.

  • Coordinate with Lady Health Workers (LHWs), community volunteers, and local health staff for joint outreach activities.

Data Collection & Reporting

  • Maintain records of community sessions, household visits, referrals, and participants.

  • Collect basic community-level data and success stories related to FP and PAC interventions.

  • Submit regular activity reports to the Project Manager as per project requirements.

Compliance & Safeguarding

  • Ensure all activities are implemented in line with organizational policies, donor guidelines, and ethical standards.

  • Promote confidentiality, dignity, and respect while dealing with sensitive reproductive health matters.

  • Support gender-sensitive and culturally appropriate programming.


Required Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, Sociology, Community Development, or a related field (preferred).

Experience

  • At least 2–3 years of experience working in community-based health or development projects.

  • Prior experience in family planning, reproductive health, maternal health, or PAC-related projects will be an advantage.

  • Experience working with NGOs, donors, or government health departments is preferred.


Skills & Competencies

  • Strong community mobilization and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to discuss sensitive health topics respectfully and confidently.

  • Good understanding of local culture, traditions, and community dynamics.

  • Basic reporting and documentation skills.

  • Willingness to travel extensively within the project area.


Language & Other Requirements

  • Fluency in local language(s) and Urdu (mandatory).

  • Basic knowledge of MS Word and reporting formats is an asset.

  • Number of community awareness sessions conducted.

  • Increased community knowledge and acceptance of FP & PAC services.

  • Effective referrals made to health facilities.

  • Timely submission of activity and progress reports.
