Job Summary:

The Fundraising Officer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing fundraising strategies to secure financial support for the organization's programs and initiatives. This role will involve cultivating relationships with existing and potential donors, identifying new fundraising opportunities, and ensuring the financial sustainability of the organization through diverse revenue streams.

The Officer will work closely with senior leadership to develop compelling proposals, coordinate fundraising events, and manage donor relations. The position demands strong communication, strategic thinking, and networking skills to secure significant funds and long-term partnerships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with the organization’s mission, goals, and financial needs.
  • Identify key fundraising opportunities through grants, corporate sponsorships, individual donations, and events.
    • Conduct market research and analysis to stay updated on trends, potential donors, and best practices in fundraising.
    • Identify potential donors, including individuals, corporations, and government agencies, that align with the organization's mission and programs.
    • Build and nurture relationships with new and existing donors to ensure continued support and engagement.
    • Develop tailored donor engagement plans to enhance relationships and increase donor retention.
    • Research and write compelling grant proposals to secure funding from government agencies, and other relevant bodies.
    • Work with CEO to develop detailed and persuasive proposals that effectively communicate the organization’s goals, impact, and funding needs.
    • Track and manage the submission of grants, ensuring timely application and follow-up processes.
    • Organize and oversee fundraising campaigns, including online and offline initiatives, ensuring they meet revenue targets.
    • Plan and execute fundraising events, such as galas, charity auctions, and donor luncheons, to engage donors and raise funds.
    • Acknowledge and thank donors promptly and appropriately to maintain positive and lasting relationships.
    • Prepare regular donor reports, outlining the impact of their contributions, and ensure they are informed about the outcomes of funded programs.
      • Implement a donor recognition program to celebrate milestones, special donations, and long-term supporters.
      • Maintain a detailed donor database, tracking donations, contact information, and communication history.
      • Ensure the accuracy and confidentiality of donor data and manage regular updates to the database.
      • Collaborate with the communications team to create fundraising materials, including brochures, newsletters, social media content, and donor communications.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, marketing, Communications, or a related field. A master’s degree or certification in fundraising is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • At least 2 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or a similar field, with proven success in securing major donations and funding.
    • Experience writing successful grant proposals and securing funding from diverse sources (corporate, individual, government, foundation).
    • Experience in event planning and organizing fundraising campaigns is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive proposals and donor communications.
    • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to engage donors effectively.
    • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
    • A deep understanding of nonprofit financial management and budgeting processes.
    • High level of professionalism and integrity in donor interactions.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for donor meetings, events, and conferences.
  • Flexibility to work outside of standard office hours for events or urgent fundraising matters.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities effectively.
